We are excited for the 2024 Cascade Gravel Race/Ride! Team Breakaway is mixing it up for next year to keep things fresh and exciting for all who participate. The biggest change is we will be going from a 3-day stage race to one epic day of racing. This decision was made in order to build upon our Three Creeks course which has been the favored route.
Don’t think for a second we are getting soft.
We are expanding the distances, adding more spicy sections and most importantly creating a bigger party atmosphere high up in the Cascade Mountains. So, without further ado here are all three 2024 Cascade Gravel courses and a quick run down from our infamous race director Bad Chad.
BIG GRAVEL
91 Miles - 8533 Feet Elevation
83% Gravel - 17% Paved
For 2024 our Long Course will be bigger and badder than ever before! Up to almost 91 miles and 8600 feet of climbing. What won’t change is the format of being nearly all gravel. With 83% of this ride on gravel (and some dirt) the event will push you to your limit. Different from previous year’s we will be reversing the direction of the course which means the location of the biggest climb on the day will be at the end of the course and not in the first 20 miles. Back by popular demand will be our 4-Miles of Hell section as well as our Heaven section. We are confident this course will leave you tired and satisfied.
2023 to 2024 Breakdown – For starters 11 more miles. 2024 will be 91 miles in total length and 2000 feet more elevation. By reversing our course direction from previous years, it will provide riders with a smooth gravel and mellow grades to sufficiently warm up before the big hurt comes. Also a major change is by reversing the course riders will be climbing the infamous 4-Miles of Hell section instead of descending it. We will also be including an additional category for Pro-Elite Men and Women and Amateur Men and Women for the Long Course. The Pro-Elite Men and Women will be vying for a cash prize purse this year to keep motivation high.
MEDIUM GRAVEL
63.1 Miles - 5763 Feet Elevation
78% Gravel - 22% Paved
For 2024 our Medium Course got just a bit more challenging. With the addition of 7 more miles and 1600 more feet this course is not to be taken lightly. We wanted to make sure that everyone who signs up for the medium leaves satisfied that they were pushed to the limit. Similar to previous years the majority of the course will be on gravel (and dirt). Different from previous year’s we will be reversing the direction of the course which means the location of the biggest climbs on the day will be at the end of the course and not in the first 20 miles. Saving the best of last.
2023 to 2024 Breakdown – Seven more miles and 1600 feet and a bit more spice on course. With the course being reversed we will start with smooth fast road and end with a big climb followed by a technical decent back into Sisters.
SMALL GRAVEL
43.7 Miles - 3339 Feet Elevation
80% Gravel - 20% Paved
For 2024 our Short Course got just a little easier. Sure, we are adding one more mile to the course but we are also reducing nearly 500 feet of climbing. We will also increase the amount of unpaved roads to 80% to make sure you are getting your daily does of gravel (and dirt). Road surfaces will be butter on this course with beautiful red cinder roads and traditional gravel. Fast flowy and fun. This is a great course if you are new to gravel or a triathlete still trying to get used to riding without aero bars
2023 to 2024 Breakdown – One more mile, 500 feet less elevation. We will also be reversing the course so instead of starting with the biggest climb of the day in the first 10 miles you will save it for the end.
